COMMUNITY BUDDIES REQUIRED
BASINGSTOKE, FARNBOROUGH and surrounding areas
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced pool of people, who can offer out-of-school support to young people aged 7-19 requiring assistance to participate fully in a range of leisure and recreational activities.
The choice of activity is dictated by the child or young person. The aim is to give these young people the same freedom and independence as their contemporaries enjoy so some prefer to concentrate on one thing while others want to engage in a range of different activities. Typical buddying sessions include simply kicking a ball in the park, going shopping or watching a movie, or enjoying computer games, but they can also include family outings, or a mixture of all of these.
Time commitments can vary as well with some families looking for just an hour/week after school, at weekendsor during school holidays while others prefer less frequent longer breaks. Since each family’s needs are unique, meetings between the buddy and the young person are arranged at times/frequencies which suit both parties.
All that we ask initially is that anyone joining the scheme is able to commit to the project for a minimum of six months as continuity is important to the young people accessing it. We then aim to match workers with a young person who shares their interests and whose proposed usage of the scheme matches their availability.
Family Resource Centre UK is one of a number of providers of the Community Buddies scheme. We operate mainly in the boroughs of Basingstoke and Dean and Hart and Rushmore but there are also opportunities in adjoining areas including neighbouring boroughs.
